The Chevy Chase Concerts began in the fall of 1971 as an important part of our outreach to the community. These concerts feature sacred and classical music of a scope not usually possible in the context of a worship service: major works for chorus and orchestra, church operas, organ recitals, instrumental soloists and ensembles. In addition, the series has commissioned new works and offered local- and world-premieres.
These concerts are intended to help inspire performers and listeners alike with gratitude to God for the gift of music, and are offered admission-free as a gift to the entire community. The Chevy Chase Concerts are entirely supported by the financial gifts of supporters and friends of the Concert Series.
February 19, 4 p.m. - Andrew York, Classical Guitar
A Grammy award-winning guitarist and composer, York's musicianship is influenced by a wide range of styles, from jazz to folk to classical and beyond. He has recorded extensively and his compositions are regularly performed and recorded by such luminaries as John Williams and Christopher Parkening.
