Same-Sex Marriage Resource Center

A place to learn more about the topic of same-sex marriage in the Presbyterian Church (USA)

Spirituality. Morality. Equality. Justice. Love. Compassion. Permanent Truths. Practical Realities. Corporate Bodies. Personal Convictions. These are just a few of the dimensions which inform our questions surrounding same-sex marriage in the church.

God has created of us a community of faith and bound us together in love. It is through this unity of love, respect and struggle to fulfill God's purposes that we examine and discuss the issue of gay marriage.

Shortly after same-sex marriages became legal in DC, the Session established a Marriage Task Force "for discernment and education on the role and stance of CCPC concerning the question of marriage between gay and lesbian couples."

What will we do when faithful members come to us and ask to be married in the church?

The task force has engaged in extensive study of the many considerations involved in the issue, including theology, church polity, pastoral concerns, and justice.

This page is a place to learn more as we move forward deliberately, thoughtfully, and prayerfully with humility, respect, and concern for all. We must listen to each other with openness and respect. Read on for more information, and to voice your thoughts.
