Education
At Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church, we take seriously our commitment to learn and grow in God's Word and in faith. We offer a variety of opportunities and classes for everyone, from our youngest disciples to those seeking more maturity and depth in their faith.
During the program year (September through May), we offer a full range of graded Sunday School classes to teach our children from Preschool through Youth the important stories of the Bible, lessons of faith and our life together using the PCUSA curriculum, We Believe. Our Youth in Grades 6 through 12 ask critical and ethical questions and seek to apply their faith to contemporary issues. Adult classes also meet from 9:45 - 10:45 to study a wide variety of topics.
Each Sunday, children and youth are encouraged to attend the 9:30 a.m. worship service with their families and then go to their classes after the Time with Children. Age 5/Kindergarteners through Third Graders usually attend a short time of music to sing some of the great hymns and songs of the church before their teachers will take them to their classrooms.
Parents are asked to pick up their children in their classrooms at 10:45 a.m. or alert their child’s teacher in writing on the registration form if they are to meet their family in Chadsey Hall for brunch.
Our Easter Festival, Deck the Halls and other
intergenerational events give younger children and families a chance to experience their faith in fun, spirit-filled ways, and contribute to our life together as a congregation.
A full range of adult classes on Sunday mornings, and our mid-week program FOCUS encourage adults to explore the Bible in depth, apply their faith in life and around current issues and topics.
