Valerie Burrows

BUSINESS MANAGER

Valerie Burrows, CCPC’s new business manager, brings a varied background to the position, having worked in project management and operational finance for large and small organizations.  A native of Paris, Valerie has lived both in France and in multiple U.S. cities. She moved to DC 15 years ago and finds it “much more livable than Paris.”

Her professional experience includes serving as finance manager for Sodexo, overseeing the budgets for janitors, plumbers, and other major contractors within three buildings of the International Monetary Fund.  Earlier, she was the director of transportation for the French International School in Bethesda.

When her husband decided to retire, she started a decorating service to help small businesses create more natural and healthy workspaces.  “Research shows that a building’s environment has a powerful impact on people and their productivity,” she explained. “You can increase productivity if the workspace is more reflective of nature—more natural light, more humidity, more plants, more colors found in nature.”

She closed the business in 2018 when small businesses “were having a hard time just paying for new paint.” But her interest in the power of nature remains a constant in her life.

The mother of three grown sons and a daughter, Valerie and her husband live near the National Cathedral where she is a volunteer on their 100-member Flower Guild and enjoys painting with acrylics.
