REV. MOLLY BLYTHE TEICHERT

SENIOR PASTOR/HEAD OF STAFF

The Rev. Molly Blythe Teichert began serving as Senior Pastor and Head of Staff at the Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church in November 2009. She is a lifelong Presbyterian and began serving the church as a young person on the General Assembly Youth Ministry Advisory Board of the PCUS. Her work on this board led her to participate in a Mission/Study Tour with the Presbyterian Church of Southern Africa. Her experiences of the church working for justice in the age of apartheid continue to inspire and inform her ministry. She has also served on the National Council of Churches Worship and the Arts Division, the PC(USA) Southern Africa Education Program, and as a member of the Board of Directors for Auburn Theological Seminary.

Molly has a Bachelor of Fine Arts, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Michigan, and a Master of Divinity degree from the Union Theological Seminary in New York. Her thesis research was conducted at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. She began her ministry as Associate Pastor of the Presbyterian Church on the Green in Bloomfield, New Jersey. She served for 11 years as Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Port Jefferson, New York, where she was honored as “Woman of the Year in Religion.” Most recently, she served as Senior Pastor and Head of Staff at the Presbyterian Church of Mt. Kisco in New York.

In 2017 Molly was awarded a Clergy Renewal Grant from the Lily Foundation. She took a four-month sabbatical to refresh her ministry, explore her love of Byzantine iconography, and travel to Scotland, Greece and London. On her return, the church celebrated the 25th anniversary of her ordination as a Minister of Word and Sacrament.

Molly and her husband, Paul, are the parents of two daughters, Emma and Caroline.
